How are Officer positions determined?
Each year, all interested MSW candidates submit a candidate statement for a desired position and then there is a voting process for election. Everyone in all cohorts will get a vote after reading the candidate statements, if there are competing positions.
When is the next election?
The current board (2017-2018) will serve the entire year from June 2017 to June 2018. The election process for the 2018-2019 SWSA Board will begin in April 2018 and continue until June 2018. The new Board will assume their positions after commencement in June of 2018.
What are the roles of the Officers?
As a SWSA Officer, you are responsible for connecting with students, faculty and community professionals, furthering the commitment to community service, carrying out individual duties throughout the year and promoting the overall smooth functioning of SWSA. Depending on the position, you may serve your role in various ways, such as orchestrating events, networking with students and/or professionals, engaging in SWSA quality assessment, gathering and disseminating information, and handling financial matters. All roles are important and require good communication and a high degree of ability to work interdependently.
What are the roles of Class Liaisons?
You can be a class liaison! Class liaisons are the students who attend general meetings and then report the content of the meetings to the rest of their cohort. They keep their cohorts well informed and able to participate. Class liaisons may also be in charge of other tasks, such as selling tickets or distributing merchandise purchased by their cohort peers and then delivering the proceeds to the Treasurer.
All class liaisons should have their pictures and bios submitted to [email protected], to be featured on the website, so others may know who they are.
