Marlene Anceno
Secretary
I am currently in the first year/part time cohort and I am running for secretary of the 2016-17 Social Work Student Association (SWSA) board. Having several leadership positions in the past has enhanced my ability to be self-motivated and have great follow through with any tasks that a position entails. Through excellent time-management, I feel I can effectively handle the multiplicity of duties that are required of someone who is a student, an intern, and a representative of the student body. As secretary, I hope to be part of team that wants to bring a greater awareness and more outreach for SWSA as well as unite the student body, not only for incoming students, but for our current student cohorts as well. In addition, I would plan to excel my performance as secretary in order to run as an eligible candidate for my third year graduate program. I hope that these skillsets fit student expectations and obtain their confidence to be considered a viable candidate for the SWSA secretary position.

I am a first-year, full-time MSW student. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in June 2015. For the duration of my undergraduate experience, I was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Rho Lambda; a national sorority leadership society, Phi Alpha honor society, and Future Social Workers in Action. While an active collegiate member of Alpha Delta Pi, I served as the Public Relations Chair, Philanthropy Chair, ADPI Hold’em Chair, and Executive Vice President.I am a very punctual, organized and dedicated person; I have some experience with press releases, orgsync and ginsystems, organizing volunteers, coordinating projects, recording minutes, running meetings, and public speaking in recruitment events to 100+ individuals. As a secretary I intend to use the skills I have gained in past organizations to work efficiently and cohesively as a team with other members of the board. With this position, I intend to work towards getting active involvement from first-year and part-time students. I also intend to work with the students to ensure that they are properly informed and maintain open lines of communication.
