Liz Sidener
Pathways Liaison My name is Elizabeth Sidener and I’m a second year Distance Pathway MSW student here at Cal State University San Bernardino. I joined the SWSA Board as the Distance Pathway Liaison to assist in creating more connection and collaboration between the Distance Pathway students and our On-Campus cohorts. By the time I graduate from the MSW program it will be exactly 30 years since I graduated high school in 1988. I am definitely the turtle in the race of life, slow and steady but eventually I reach my goals. Since childhood I have had a helping spirit but I wasn’t sure how I could help others in a real life career. Having children in my 30’s and 40’s became my greatest inspiration and led me on the path towards becoming a social worker. My first daughter was born with severe disabilities and we spent much of her short life at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). It was at CHLA where I met and worked with some very special Medical Social Workers. My internship and career goals lay in the medical social work field. I would like to give back to other families who are going through challenging times in a hospital setting. I want to be a listening ear and compassionate person during their time of great need. |
