I am a mother of two wonderful children who are my pride and joy. I have had a passion for service, since I can remember. From the time that I came to this country, I wanted to better understand and serve the community, where eventually I would be practicing and raising my family. I have the desire to have a positive influence in my community and the drive to see everyone around me succeed in life by overcoming barriers. I have worked in the Medical field working as a supervisor for 5 years at LaSalle Medical Associates for Pediatrics. Working with children and the community early in my career, has played a role in the passion I have working with individuals in great need. I worked for Health Advocates for 4 years at Community Hospital of San Bernardino, as a Case Manager. My job consisted of assisting patients in the psych wards and telemetry floors to identify benefits available to them, such as social security benefits, disability benefits, Medi-Cal and other programs offered through the county of San Bernardino. My job had certain limitations, but as a born advocate, I would go above and beyond for my clients to make sure their services would be available to them. I am currently an employee of San Bernardino County as an Eligibility Worker II, I have two specialized caseloads assisting families with Transitional Medi-Cal, and also Disability Determination Service Division (DDSD) where I assist my client complete their disability packets complete their social security disability application and also appeal their denials if they were to deny. I work full time and have managed to continue my education with the Title IV program that allows me to receive support from my employer along with Children Family Service agency. Besides being a student, full time employee I am a mother of two beautiful children Leah and Aidan, who are my pride and joy. I have been a go getter all my life. I have succeeded all my goals and accomplishments, with an overall goal to serve my community and be a role model to my children. Besides my own duties, I have also volunteered to be a team mom for my children’s softball and baseball team, which I greatly enjoy showing education, emotional, social, leadership skills and overall all a passion to sports. I am currently a member of the Hispanic Employees Alliance, and also a Teamster Local 1932 county union supporter. Therefore, being part of the board members for Social Work Student Association is an honor and a pleasure to share my passion and involvement with my community and fellow students.

Treasurer
I am in the 2nd Year/Part-time cohort and I am excited to accept the position of Treasurer position for the Social Work Student Association (SWSA) through the 2016-17 academic year. I bring to the table experience, as I have been part of many organizations throughout my academic and professional lifespan. Having been part of student government in community college, I oversaw a $249,000 budget. As well, I have managed the funds of several student organizations, and chaired several non-profit subcommittees—I have overseen and managed many different types of budgets from the complex bureaucratic, down to the simple activist group. Currently, I am the President of Coyotes for Recovery, a club dedicated to helping advocate for those in recovery from addictions or emotional distress here at CSUSB, therefore, I am very familiar with using the CSUSB banking system set up for clubs and organizations. I am particularly motivated to support a SWSA effort for a continued funding of thought-provoking forums, cohort engaging activities, and increased participation in campus wide collegiate events.
